How To Use The Fire Pit Builder Tool

A fire pit is the perfect place to gather with friends and family year-round. And determining the fire pit kit you’ll need to build yours is an easy 4 step process.

On this page, we’ll explain the components that you’ll need to build your fire pit, what they do, and how to find the one that’s best for you.

Step 1: Which Of The Following Shapes Do You Want?

Determine what shape fire pit you’ll want to build. This will determine what blocks you’ll need to purchase from a big box retail store and which DIY Fire Pit Kit you’ll need to purchase from American Fire Glass.

We have fire pit kits in round, square & rectangular.

Step 2: How Would You Like To Light Your Fire Pit?

Determine how you would like to light your fire pit. We have Electronic Ignition, CSA Safety Certified, Push Button Spark Ignition, and Match Light.

How to use Electronic Ignition Burner Kits: Simply flip a switch, press a button, turn a timer, or use anything else wired to your fire pit to control it. If the flames ever go out, the flame sensor recognizes it and automatically shuts off the gas immediately.

How to use CSA Safety Certified Burner Kits: Simply press and hold the included push button & then turn your gas valve to the “on” position. If the flames ever go out, the flame sensor recognizes it and automatically shuts off the gas immediately.

How to use Push Button Spark Ignition Burner Kits: Simply press and hold the included push button to spark the igniter. Then turn your gas valve to the “on” position.

How to use Match Light Burner Kits: Simply hold a long match or long neck butane lighter over the fire pit burner and slowly turn the valve to the “on” position.

Regardless of the DIY Fire Pit Kit you choose, all 4 come with a burner, a pan, a shut off valve, a flex line, and all the fittings necessary for assembly

Step 3: Do You Have A Natural Gas Or Propane Hookup?

After deciding how you want to light your fire; you’ll want to determine whether you have a natural gas or liquid propane hookup

Natural gas comes from your house & liquid propane will come from a BBQ style tank.

Step 4: Select Your DIY Fire Pit Kit

Now the fun part! Picking out which option is best for you!

By now, you’ve narrowed down your requirements to a handful of options. You’ve determined your shape, the ignition type, and your fuel source. All that’s left to do is select your size and add it to your cart.

After your fire pit is built, it’s time to crank up the heat and invite your friends and family over to enjoy your new outdoor entertainment together!
