How much Fire Glass do I need for my fire feature?
Use our handy fire glass calculator to determine how much fire glass you or your clients will need for your fire feature.
What is the difference between 10 pound bags of fire glass and 10 pound jars of fire glass?
The only difference is the packaging. The fire glass is the exact same. Jars are typically used to display in stores & bags are mostly used for shipping direct.
What types of fuel can be used with American Fire Glass?
Fire glass can be used with natural gas or propane.
Can I use fire glass with my ceramic logs or lite stone balls?
Do not place anything above the fire glass, that traps more heat, and the glass can fuse to itself.
Can I use recycled glass indoors?
Recycled Fire Pit Glass is for outdoor use only.
What is the difference between Premium and Classic Fire Glass?
Premium and Reflective are the same thing, it is made from colored glass with a mirrored finish on one side of each piece. Classic Fire Glass is colored glass without a mirrored finish.
Is the Luster Finish the same as the Premium Reflective?
Luster is different than premium/reflective, the luster coating resembles oil on water.
What type of glass works best with propane?
¼” will work with propane, but we recommend larger sizes of fire glass due to propane being heavier than air and the larger pieces give the gas less resistance.
Why Wash/Rinse with 50/50 White Vinegar and Water?
This will avoid water spots and helps to break down ‘soot’ residue.
Do I cover the burner with fire glass?
YES, a burner should NEVER be used unless it is completely covered. A 1/4" diameter media base is strongly recommended to cover the burner before applying the final topping. The media should cover the burner by about 1/2" to 1" before the final topping is added. Our small lava rock works best. Operating a burner without proper coverage can cause warpage and possible permanent damage to the burner and burner pan. This will also void the warranty on the product.
Onyx is no ordinary material, but the stuff of legends. Tales of this mysterious and beautiful stone date back to Greek mythology. It was prized and used extensively by many ancient civilizations including the Romans and Egyptians for making jewelry and carvings. Now, we have succeeded in capturing some of the beauty of onyx in our fire glass so that your customers can bring its exotic features to their homes...
Our onyx medium fire pit glass may be described as dark, elegant, mysterious and exotic all at once! Made from recycled glass, these gleaming black fire glass pieces are guaranteed to impress all onlookers with their opaque luster. Ideal for any outdoor environment, this magnificent glass is especially suited to backgrounds of light shade which will contrast with its stunning black. This medium variety is chunkier as compared with our onyx small fire pit glass, which allows for better air circulation and also delivers a bigger and more impressive flame. When your customers' fire pit is lighted, all eyes will stare in wonder at the amazing display as the dark black fire glass shines and reflects the bright yellow flames dancing above it.
Not Just for Beautifying Fire Pits!
Even if your customers do not own a fire pit, there are still many uses for our onyx medium fire pit glass to enhance the look of their outdoor scenery. It may be used in aquariums, near water features, or in gardens for landscaping. Our onyx fire pit glass may be used alone, or combined with other complementing colors to create a truly unique look.
Practical, Safe & Long Lasting!
Our fire pit glass is not just beautiful, but also very practical. It does a wonderful job of covering the entire bottom surface of a fire feature, thereby hiding the unseemly pipes and tubes that are often visible in gas fire pits. This makes them a much more desirable alternative to the more common ceramic wood and stones.
All of our fire pit glass has been carefully designed to withstand extreme temperatures and harsh weather without sustaining any damage or discoloration. Our tempered fire glass is not tumbled which ensures an enhanced shine. Used correctly, it could last your customers a lifetime!
